Stereognosis

DIRECTIONS


 1. Explain the purpose to the client:

Hello Matilda, sometimes after an injury patients experience loss of stereognosis, or the sense of what objects are in your hand.

2. Explain the procedure to the client:

Matilda, I am going to ask you to close your eyes.   After your eyes are closed, I will place an object in your hand. You will then feel the object once it’s in your hand and tell me what you’re holding.

3. Ask client to close their eyes.

Matilda, please close your eyes.

4. Place object in hand.

Matilda, the object is now in your hand.  Please tell me what you feel what the object is.
